Συζήτηση & ξενάγηση έκθεσης με τους καλλιτέχνες Ρήνο Στεφανή & Sumer Erek
Στο πλαίσιο της έκθεσης των Ρήνου Στεφανή και Sumer Erek στο Δημοτικό Κέντρο Τεχνών Λεμεσού - Αποθήκες Παπαδάκη, η οποία θα διαρκέσει μέχρι και τις 31 Μαΐου 2025, το Λεμεσός 2030 διοργανώνει συζήτηση με τους θεωρητικούς τέχνης Γαβριήλ Κουρέα και Esra Plumer την Τετάρτη 28 Μαΐου. Εξερευνώντας ζητήματα ταυτότητας, μνήμης και ανθρώπινης εμπειρίας, το έργο "Human Targets" του Στεφανή καταπιάνεται με τη βία και το τραύμα, ενώ το έργο "Embodied Moments" του Erek εξετάζει τα σημεία διασταύρωσης σώματος και χώρου. Μαζί, ανοίγουν δρόμο για έναν συναρπαστικό διάλογο γύρω από σύγχρονα ζητήματα.

«Η Τέχνη στην Κύπρο: μια συζήτηση γύρω από το τραύμα, την ανεπούλωτη θλίψη και αφηγήματα υπό αμφισβήτηση».
Η συζήτηση αυτή, που διοργανώνεται από το Λεμεσός 2030, φέρει τον τίτλο «Η Τέχνη στην Κύπρο: μια συζήτηση γύρω από το τραύμα, την ανεπούλωτη θλίψη και αφηγήματα υπό αμφισβήτηση». Συμμετέχουν οι θεωρητικοί τέχνης Γαβριήλ Κουρέας και Esra Plumer, οι καλλιτέχνες Ρήνος Στεφανής και Sumer Erek, καθώς και η Ελλάδα Ευαγγέλου από την ομάδα του Λεμεσός 2030.
Η συζήτηση φιλοδοξεί να πυροδοτήσει τον διάλογο γύρω από την τέχνη στη Λεμεσό και την Κύπρο γενικότερα, αλλά και να εξετάσει κατά πόσο και με ποιους τρόπους αυτή έχει καθοριστεί από το τραύμα και την ανεπούλωτη θλίψη μέσω προσωπικών αφηγημάτων που έρχονται να θέσουν υπό αμφισβήτηση τις αντιφατικές ιστορίες του νησιού. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση θα δοθεί στον ρόλο του ανθρώπου και στις τραυματικές εμπειρίες του μέσα από το έργο των δύο καλλιτεχνών.

Roundtable discussion & tour of the exhibition by Rinos Stefani & Sumer Erek

In the frame of the exhibition by Rinos Stefani and Sumer Erek at Limassol Municipal Arts Centre, running until 31 May 2025, Lemesos 2030 hosts a Roundtable Discussion with art theorists Gabriel Koureas and Esra Plumer, preceded by a tour of the exhibition on Wednesday 28 May. Exploring themes of identity, memory, and human experience, Stefani's "Human Targets" confronts violence and trauma, while Erek's "Embodied Moments" delves into the intersections of body and space. Together, they offer a compelling dialogue on contemporary issues.
About the Roundtable Discussion:
“Art in Cyprus: a conversation on trauma, unresolved grief and contested narratives”
The event, hosted by Lemesos 2030, is a roundtable discussion entitled, “Art in Cyprus: a conversation on trauma, unresolved grief and contested narratives”. It brings together theorists Gabriel Koureas and Esra Plumer, with artists Rinos Stefani and Sumer Erek, as well as Ellada Evangelou from the Lemesos 2030 team.
The discussion aims to generate conversations around the arts in Lemesos, and Cyprus in general, and question if/how they have been defined by trauma and unresolved grief through personal narratives that challenge the contested histories of the island. Special emphasis will be given to the role of the human figure and their traumatic experiences in the work of the two artists.
