Michalis Karakatsanis

Michalis Karakatsanis is the Outreach and Projects Manager at Lemesos 2030, founder of the non-profit organization “Atheras - Peoples & Cultures”, and was previously the Project Leader of the Kourion 2030 candidacy for the European Capital of Culture 2030 title. With over 20 years of experience in the cultural and creative sectors, Michalis has worked internationally as an expert focusing on regional cultural development, music ecosystems, audience development and new cooperative business models. Michalis is currently the vice-chair of European Music Council and has served as the president of the International Association of Music Information Centers.With extensive experience in designing and managing European projects, Michalis is also frequently consulting on issues of cultural and music policies and music export strategies. He was a member of two EU OMC expert groups, focusing on the strategic use of the EU support programs to foster the potential of culture for development, and on the status and working conditions of artists and cultural and creative professionals.Meanwhile, he is still an active musician, performing regularly as a member of various local music bands around the island.
